88 hours so every student would leave with the AI plan for their own business
The brief
Moba Skill Training hired me to teach Aplica la IA en tu empresa. Intermedio (Apply AI in your company. Intermediate), an online course aimed at small and midsize businesses and people running a business. It ran from April 30 to June 17, 2026.
It was not an awareness talk or a tool demonstration. The brief was for the students to finish knowing how to apply AI to their specific business, each one to their own.
The challenge
- The group arrives with very different levels: people who have never used an AI tool alongside people who already tinker with them. The syllabus has to work for both.
- The risk with this kind of training is that the student leaves entertained but without knowing where to start on Monday.
- No two businesses are alike. Generic content stays theory as soon as each person tries to bring it to their own case.
- There are seven different areas of the business — marketing, sales, customer service, processes, finance, security — and you have to cover them without turning it into a superficial overview.
What I taught
Seven modules, 50 teaching hours
The course covers the whole company, not just the fashionable part:
- Strategic fundamentals: grow your business with AI — 6 h
- Marketing with AI — 8 h
- Sales with AI — 6 h
- Customer service and chatbots with AI — 8 h
- Process automation with AI — 8 h
- Finance with AI — 8 h
- Cybersecurity and ethics in the use of AI — 6 h
Individual mentoring, 38 more hours
This is where the course stops being generic. Each student had their own one-on-one session of an hour and a half to work on their real company: what fits them out of everything seen in class, what doesn't, and where to start. It is the part that turns the syllabus into something you can apply.
An implementation plan as the final deliverable
To finish, each student handed in a mini strategic plan for implementing AI in their company, running through all seven modules. Those who didn't have a business of their own developed it around a business idea of theirs.
It is what makes the course assessed on what the student is able to design, not on what they remember.
The result
- Each student finished with a written plan they can apply to their own business, not with notes.
- The plan covers the seven areas of the course, so they leave with the judgment to tell where AI adds value for them and where it isn't worth it.
- The individual mentoring solved what no group class solves: what to do in their company, with its size, its sector and its tools.
What students wrote during the course
Translated from Spanish.
What I needed from the client
- The syllabus and the objectives of the training program, which were already defined by the program.
- The online learning platform and the session schedule.
- No preparation on the students' part: you start from wherever each one is.
